WJYL Grassroots Football Restart

Posted: March 3, 2021 | Announcements, Notices | , , , , , , , , , , ,

Following a meeting tonight with both Staffs FA & then the WJYL Committee, it is our intention to restart the league from 11th April 2021.  We have also been given an extension to the end of the season, instead of having to finish by the end of May, we can continue till the end of June 2021.  Obviously, this extension will be dependent on pitches and centres being available till June.
If any of your teams do not wish to resume, please let me know along with the Fixtures & Age Group Secretary asap.
There will be Microsoft Teams meetings for all teams and referees on 24th & 25th March 2021.  These meetings will be staggered into 4 groups, mini soccer, 9v9, 11v11 & Referees.  Links will be sent out for these meetings.  These meetings are important and will outline what will be expected on match days & will outline any further updated guidance received from the FA.
The player registration/transfer deadline has been extended to 7th May 2021.
Applications for next season will soon be available online.  Due to the issues of the past 12 months, we have decided to keep the cost down to £25 per team for entry to the league this is a large reduction on the usual price.
Hope this is of assistance, further information will be sent out as necessary.
Regards
Alberta Wood
League Secretary

Message From The Chairman

Posted: October 1, 2020 | Announcements, Notices | , , , , , , , , , , ,

Message from the Chairman – Mr. David Vale
I am writing to you all after the government have issued their latest guidelines to combat
COVID-19.
Our football will continue for now, however, the following measures MUST be adhered to
by all attending any of our fixtures at any venue to ensure that everyone is kept as safe as
possible:
 Social Distance as per Government guidelines, League Risk Assessment and venue
requirements must be strictly followed at all times
 A Test and Trace system must be in place for every team each week. Following an
FA email sent on 22nd September 2020, this may be facilitated by using the NHS QR
code system along with the NHS Test and Trace App. This will not be available
until 24th September 2020.
 Every Club must have a COVID-19 Officer and their name and email must be
registered with the League Secretary.
 A Respect Marshall for each team must be on duty at each fixture to monitor social
distancing and supporter behaviour. They must wear the appropriate League
issued fluorescent bib.
 Only 1 spectator per player is allowed at any venue.
 No portable substitute benches are to be used to ensure players can social distance
when not on the field of play.
 Arrive no earlier than 20-30 minutes before KO, this will allow time to organise the
fixture and to prepare the players.
 Notify Fixtures, Age Group Secretaries, opposition and Referee at the earliest
opportunity if you are unable to play. Please complete a postponement form
(https://www.wjyl.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Match-PostponementForm-2019.pdf) and send to lynnredfern14@gmail.com.
It was very disappointing to hear that we had some notifications of incidents of bad
behaviour in our first two weeks of returning. This will not be tolerated and I ask all of our
Clubs/Teams to put in measures to stamp this out.
Failure to adhere to the Government guidelines, Public Health England, FA and League rules
may mean that fixtures will be suspended in addition to FA sanctions. Guidelines are
constantly being updated and any changes will be emailed to Clubs by the League.
By working together and observing current rules and regulations, we can all continue to
safely enjoy our football. Please help us to keep our football a safe environment for
everyone.
David Vale
Chairman
Walsall Junior Youth Football League

Coaches CPD event at Rushall Olympic – How we coach

Posted: December 23, 2019 | Announcements | , , , , , , , , , ,

Hosted on Wednesday 22 January 2020, learners will discover more about how their behaviours influence players, training sessions and their own personal development along the coaching pathway. The course is set to get underway at 6:30pm and is expected to run until 9pm.

Specifically, the workshop will allow coaches to learn how to manage differences between players, cope with mistakes, and how to adapt approaches for players’ individual needs, whilst working closely with Staffordshire FA tutors.

It will also highlight the importance of regularly reflecting on coaching behaviours and how effective they are at installing a positive environment at training and on matchdays.

To book a place on the workshop, please follow the link below.

Minutes Applause for Former WJYL Player Tom Jones

Posted: October 2, 2018 | Announcements | , , , , , , ,

I’m sure many of you will have read about Tom Jones (Jonah) the 18 year old Worcester uni student who went missing on a night out. His body was later found in the River Severn. Both youth football and West Bromwich Albion were a massive part of Tom’s life, himself playing at a competitive level.  We’ve been contacted by Lorraine Payne, a family friend, who suggested as a mark of respect we could invite all teams to join in a minutes applause before next Sunday’s games – we’re sure this would mean a great deal to his family and friends. If both teams are in agreement please advise players, parents and referees and I’m sure we’d all agree its a lovely tribute to pay to someone close to our league and teams.
Many thanks and our deepest condolences are sent to all of Tom’s friends and family.

As you are probably aware, we are experiencing some teething problems with the new FA system Full Time. Teams should be able to confirm fixtures via the system but some are unable to. Please bear with us whilst these glitches are resolved by the FA.
In the meantime if you already know your opposition number from last season then confirm by phone. Otherwise check if your age group secretary has the number although the Age Group Secretary may contact you. Failing that contact the League Secretary via email or text for the Club Secretary’s number.
Your referees have been confirmed by the Referees Secretary, you only need to contact the Referees Secretary if there is a problem.
